Six Reasons to Throw a Company Party

October 18, 2011 by Taylor Studios

We had our annual Freek in the Creek party at my farm this weekend. Why do we throw an annual party?

1. **To Connect**

Part of a leader’s job is to build connectivity. This party gives us an opportunity to get to know each other in a relaxed, authentic setting. We get to chat with spouses and kids. If we know just a little bit more about each other we may appreciate and work more effectively as a team. Our culture is key to our success. This helps develop it. Connectivity is the number one and most important reason.

2. **Tradition**

This party is now a tradition at Taylor Studios Inc. We have shared stories and expectations surrounding this event. Designing the invitations is fun and we’ve won for the artwork.

3. **It’s Fun**

4. **Be in Nature**

Given that our product is often about natural history and inspiring people to be stewards of nature, having an event in the woods near the river and prairie is fitting.

5. **Introduce People to Horses**

Horses are my grand passion. I enjoy sharing this with others. I hope to have others garner an appreciation for this noble companion that helped us write history. I give many people their first opportunity to sit astride this 1,100 pound friend. Smokey my green horn friendly safe horse has lots of fans now.

6. **Community**

I invite many of my neighbors and friends. I love the opportunity to share my farm and work mates with them and hang. My neighborhood in the country already has an appreciation for wildlife. That’s why we live way out in the boonies. We share with each other when the doe down the street has twins, where we last saw the eagles or what to do about the plethora of coons and coyotes.

How does your work place develop culture and connectivity?
