How Working on Personal Finance Increases Happiness

Last week we had a personal finance seminar. I have often brought in others to speak to my staff about the importance of working on their personal finances. I believe if you have your finances in order it will lead to less stress and worry in your life. However, you have to work on it just like anything else. If you want to be in shape, you have to set aside hours to work out. You also have to set aside hours to learn how to handle your personal wealth. Don’t rely on someone else to take care of that for you. Put in the time that it takes to get your finances in order.
Some ways working on your personal finance may increase your happiness:
§ Having a savings is a cool thing. It will help your self-esteem as your net worth goes up.
§ Creating a budget can lead to achieving your dreams like a new house, a vacation you have always wanted or just plain not having unneeded stuff will reduce the clutter in your life.
§ Increasing your knowledge of personal finance alleviates fear of the unknown. It can give you peace of mind that you understand how to best handle your money.
§ Having a plan for retirement, death and your children’s education is the right thing to do for other people in your life, too. Knowing that your family is taken care of and they don’t have to take care of you can bring happiness.
Studies have shown that life satisfaction is better when you have your income under control. So get to it and create a budget, watch your expenses, save, save, save, increase your financial knowledge and create a plan.
