NAI 2009
I was very happy to be able to attend this year’s NAI National Workshop with our president, Betty, and our new account manager, Andrea. We all had a great time in Hartford.
I tried clams for the first time at a New England clam bake (which was held inside due to cold weather but still a lot of fun!), met up with past, current, and (hopefully) future clients and collaborators, and attended informative sessions on everything from brain research to interpretive writing.
We were also able to explore Hartford a little bit and took an awesome tour of the Mark Twain House. The house itself was amazing, full of original furniture, beautiful architectural details, fun period trinkets (like a milk-able toy cow), and touching family photos. I could barely believe that a fig tree planted by the Clemens family is still growing in the lush conservatory! But it was the tour guide who really made the house come alive, telling stories that transported us to one of his frequent dinner parties or to nighttime stories in front of the ornate fireplace. The excursion definitely made me want to re-read some of his books that I loved as a child.
