Are you observant?
Are you observant?

What is your goal when you travel? Travel can offer many rewards from relaxation to inspiration. I just got back from a week in Paris. One of my goals was to be perceptive. I want to improve my visual observation skills. Can you look at a piece of art intently then look away and remember its colors, its textures and details? Have you ever tested your visual observation skills?
Most people tend to either be visual, kinesthetic or auditory learners. If all these senses are engaged we may have a better chance of teaching or making an impact in our work. We often design a variety of sensory elements into our exhibits.
I visited the Louvre twice during the last week. The first time we just wandered through. I would occasionally pick up the English laminated text card that described a gallery or a specific piece of art. The second time we had a guide describing the art pieces. Wow! What a huge difference it made to have someone telling stories about the pieces of art. It meant so much more. The story, the visual and the audio helped understanding and brought more appreciation.
I don’t know if my observation skills improved, yet here are a few things I noticed in Paris.
