Today marks the beginning of our latest series – Quality Control. Every other Thursday, our Art Director, Jason Cox, will discuss Quality Control – it’s importance, for what he looks when conducting walk throughs, comparisons of our quality to the competition, and more.
A couple years ago, we completed the first phase of new exhibits for a client. Our working relationship was wonderful and the project was a success. Shortly after the project ended, they were ready to begin phase two. The client really wanted to give us the job,but because of their bidding system, they had to choose the low-bidder. Needless to say, the second phase did not go well. The customer service was poor, communication was non-existent, they were change-ordered for additional fees (they ended up paying more in the end than our original bid), and the installation was several weeks, if not months, late. The client was very disappointed in phase two.
When phase three was put out to bid, we proposed and won the job. The kickoff meeting was held last month so our project manager and exhibit designer were on-site. They took many pictures of the phase two exhibits so we could see the type of work this particular competitor produces.
The photo below shows work that would never be accepted here at Taylor Studios. Why? you ask. Not only would we not cut the hole three times bigger than it needed to be but also we would not design that kind of exposed wire management. The exhibit looks sloppy and unfinished.
Competitor’s Work
This photo is of a similar design that we fabricated. Can you tell the difference?
