Create Memories
Create Memories

Sunday night my 83 year old father died. He cracked his vertebra about ten weeks ago. This lead to a bone infection, which lead to spinal cord infection and more. He fought it for seven weeks. We all really thought he would pull through. I was there holding his hand and got some good moments with him during the battle.
Today I went through photos to create a slide show for his services. It certainly was a walk down memory lane. My dad and I were pretty close all of my 45 years. As a kid I helped him on the farm, building fences, mowing fields, being a gopher for tools, etc. As an adult he helped me on my farm, building fences, building a barn, mowing pastures etc. I guess we don’t fall far from the tree.
My father loved Taylor Studios Inc. He had exhibits in his yard, mostly reject ones I gave him. He also had a Deinonychus model in his front yard. His wardrobe consisted mainly of Taylor Studios Inc. t-shirts. He brought friends for tours and even tried to help us make sales. When I called on all my travels he wanted to know how business was doing. I would always throw in horse stories too. His favorite horse on my farm was Star.
A friend gave me this quote in a plaque after my horse of 28 years passed away. A horse I got in 7th grade. I think it is applicable now.
“Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.” Dr. Seuss
We are in the business of creating memories. I hope you have some good ones.
