Custer State Park sought a partner to design a new exhibit hall
that delves deeper into content about its bison herd. This new
building is a great stopping point for many tourists as they drive
along the scenic road. The Bison Center features exhibits that
explore the natural history of bison in North America, the history
of bison in Custer State Park, the management of bison in Custer
State Park, and the Custer State Park buffalo roundup and auction.

Visitors explore the bison through the lens of seasonal change and
discover how the bison life cycle affects the landscape and
ecosystems around them. Visitors leave with a greater
understanding of bison and their connection to Custer State Park
through low-tech but dynamic displays.

A bison scene in the Bison Center building is designed to resemble a migrating herd. Front and center are an adult and a young bison grazing.
