Make Your Own Museum Flipbooks

You have an organization problem.
The collection of White Oak bark photos adhered to your wood paneled wall are fading in the afternoon sun.
The rings holding the dividers in your binder of nocturnal Appalachian bird species are askew and seem to be growing some kind of fungi that has yet to be identified.
The gyrating and hypnotic Van Gogh-esque fingerprints on your iPad of panoramic Red-eyed tree frog environments would only add to the splendor if not for the broken screen.
But there’s hope.
In a world of tape and glue, one item rises above the rest.
FLIP BOOKS
We’ve used them everywhere.
With $3 in hardware, a little computer work, and a trip to the print shop, you can turn your grungy germ leaflets into super sturdy learning aids!
By switching to a better mounting method (U-Bolts) and a sightly sturdier material (foam core or similar) you remove many of the maintenance and quality issues common to simple posters and cards, while still allowing changeability. You can even create templates to further the brand of your exhibits, so all your materials have a matching color palette and typefaces. Not design-savvy? Contact a nearby college art department. I guarantee there are local students who need to beef up their portfolio.
What kind of displays does your museum currently have? Post them on our Facebook page so we can see!
