Imagine you are making your signature cake for someone you want to impress, such as a significant other, new colleague, or a new client, for the first time. This cake will say a lot about you and your standard for excellence in producing a dessert that is remembered
and requested repeatedly by those who taste it. To achieve the most delicious results you use the finest ingredients including only the best vanilla, real butter and cream. Of course, your results will be much better than if you had used imitation or lower quality components, and so it is with using high quality materials, especially plastics and epoxies, for your fabrications.

Have you ever skimped and made do with product “B” because it was less expensive, only to have it perform poorly and you ended up having to redo a project? Or, did it take so much time during fabrication to force it to behave in the manner you needed that you’re now over budget and anticipated cost savings just flew right out of the window? Poor performance from inferior products can nip away at your profit.

Let us also consider situations when a material fails after installation…what a mess! Your team has spent hundreds of hours on a project, has delivered it to the customer and it
has been installed. At first, it looks great and they are pleased with your work…then a few weeks later there are cracks forming or liquid is weeping to the surface causing paint to bubble. What happened? You know you did your part correctly, could it be the material, which had represented to withstand the application, was not quite up to the challenge. It is possible, and there again go your profits, and to a point, your reputation along with them.

So, how do you avoid these costly and uncomfortable scenarios? By using quality materials
from the beginning. How do you know you are using a quality material? One way is by doing a little bit of homework on the company you are considering. Do they possess manufacturing quality certifications such as ISO? A manufacturer of materials who earns this
standard has gone to great lengths to perfect their processes to produce consistent, reliable results batch after batch. A strong materials partner will also come along side and provide technical assistance and service long after the sale and not merely hand the material to you at the register and wave good-bye, wish you good luck.

Consistent performance is an attribute we all bank on when we want to produce our best, and receive the best. In most cases, you cannot get there by using inferior materials. Choose to use high quality products every time for every project and you greatly reduce the possibility of leaving a bad taste you customer’s mouth.
